How to Counter Build : Basic idea

A lot of players may not know what is counter build. But in Legend Tier and up, they do this to make the situation in favor of them.So basically this topic was for beginners.

Counter building is a vital element of the game, this somehow change the flow of the fight. By understanding counter building this gives you edge against your opponents. I will give you examples of items and how it counters.

For example, your team composition compose of more than one mage. The instinct of your opponents will build Athena's Shield after they build their first core item. The Athena's Shield will give your opponent a +900 HP, +56 magic def, and +20 HP regen plus the item's passive which enables your opponents to absorb up to 1150. So how can you counter this item?
Build Divine Glaive, which gives you +60 magic power and its passive that gives you 40% magic penetration and the other passive that increased by 30% bonus effect if your enemy has higher than 70% HP.

Another Example;

If the hero has a high lifesteal effect like Alucard, or Ruby or even a support that gives a continuous healing effect we need to build Deadly Blade for physical attack and Necklace of Durance for magic attack. Deadly Blade will gives you +60 Physical attack and +20% Attack speed and its passive that basic attack reduces HP regen effect by 50% for 3 seconds. And for Necklace of Durance it will gives you +70 magic power, +10% cooldown reduction, +10% magical lifesteal and its passive which skills that dealing damage to the target reduces the effect by 50% for 3 seconds. With these items you can have a higher chance of killing your opponents even they have higher lifesteal rate.

Try to explore more items and understand their effects. Choose the best items that will counter fit the situation of the game.

Hope this blog gives you more idea in the game.

My Item Guide and Combo Tips for Gusion

Gusion is my best pick hero. It suits my gameplay because he has mobility and high damage plus he is on of the meta heroes that rarely banned. I decided to make an item guide and combo tips because I almost master the gameplay of Gusion. In our Barangay , I am the currently top 4. My street leaderboard rank barely increase because sometimes I'm not able to use Gusion because I often adjust to our team composition, because if you were a solo player other players rushing to pick what they want without considering what kind of role our team needs. So lets move on to the Item guide !!!

Item Guide

For mid lane Gusion, we need Rapid Boots. For side lanes, Magic boots for magic penetration. Why? Because you don't need to rotate, you need magic penetration and play aggressively to prevent your opponent to farm gold.

I will show you my builds.

My 2nd build was based from ign: Doofenshmirtzz, I like how he play Gusion, his IQ in the game is amazing and how he react to the situation, I highly recommend watching his videos in youtube.

But I mostly use the 3rd build. The first two items are Clock of Destiny and Concentrated energy. Those two items gives extra durability for Gusion since his HP growth is too low.
  • Clock of Destiny will gives you +615 HP, +60 Magic power, and +600 mana, this item's passive will adds 30 HP and 5 magic attack every 30 seconds up to 10 times. With full stack you can manage to sustain your damage until late game.
  • And the Concentrated energy give 25% spell vamp plus if you kill an enemy hero you will gain 10% HP recovery. Lightning Truncheon for additional damage every 6 seconds that scales on enemy's maximum mana and additional 10% cooldown reduction.
  • Fleeting Time gives you +70 magic power and +15% cooldown reduction. Plus the item's passive will give you additional 35% cooldown reduction for assists. With this items, you can easily ambush any type of hero because at this rate you has a very low cooldown for your skills.
  • The last item is Ice Queen Wand, +75% magic power, +10% magic lifesteal, +150 mana, and +7 movement speed. According to the skills passive, skills that damage an enemy hero will carry a 15% slow down effect that last 3 seconds and stack up to 2 times. This effect suits Gusion because he is a skill type hero, so every time you cast a skill to enemy hero you can give enemy hero slow effect. BUT!!!! if there is too many crowd control enemy hero, i change the Ice Queen Wand into Winter Truncheon, this item gives you +60 magic power, +25 physical defense and + 400 HP. Plus the most important, it is an active item, when you use this item your hero will become stationary and wont be able to cast skill but in exchange you will be immune to all damage and debuff, this lasts 2 seconds and has a cooldown 100 seconds.

Combo Tips

There are two combo for Gusion's skills, the 10 dagger combo and 5 dagger combo. We will talk about these two combos.

5 Dagger Combo

In 5 dagger combo you can trigger your passive 3 times. The combo will be :
1st skill+2nd skill+1st skill = Passive 1, continuation
2nd skill+ Ult skill+ 2nd skill = Passive 2
1st skill + 1st skill + 2nd skill = Passive 3 plus you have extra ultimate skill for dash out

Using this combo, you have more mobility and makes harder for your enemy to initiate skills against you. And if you miss your first Sword Spike or 1st skill, you still have one more dagger from your ultimate skill and still have a chance to chase the enemy.

10 Dagger Combo

For 10 dagger combo we can trigger Gusion's passive 2 times. It goes like this;

 2nd skill + Ult skill + 2nd skill = Passive
 1 skill + 1st skill + 2nd skill = Passive
 Plus Ultimate for dashing out.

With this combo you will use your Ultimate skill right after you use your 2nd skill. The only weakness of this combo is once you miss your Sword Spike or 1st skill you don't have a chance to make all 10 dagger to land on your enemy.

Hope this blog will help all Gusion user.

My Top 5 Heroes for Ranking

In the current season, there are lots of game adjustments. From items, jungle monster, heroes skill adjustments and optimization of the skills. My current rank is Epic III. In this rank, the most commonly banned heroes are Lunox, Aldous, Harith, and Claude. But aside from them, there are many heroes you can use that has a high percentage of winning if you work correctly.

My top 5 are all based on my experience and personal opinion.

TOP 5

HELLCURT

Hellcurt is good in surprise attack. His ultimate skill is very useful for him and his teammate as it limits your opponent's sightHellcurt was good in mid game and late game. The only weakness I noticed using Hellcurt is, you need a good teammate that can come with you if you will go ganking in early game, if you build your core items late it will be hard for you to carry the game because of the disadvantage in damage that you can inflict.
My 3 core items for Hellcurt is Blade of Despair for damage in the early game because as I mentioned Hellcurt was good in mid and late game. Then Demon Hunter Sword for attack speed and extra damage and small amount of life steal in a short period of time, lastly Corrosion Scythe for additional attack speed and slow enemies that escaping, this item will give you additional 50 attack so if you will combine BOD (Blade of Despair), DHS (Demon Hunter Sword) and CS (Corrosion Scythe) you already have  255 physical attack. With this 3 items you can easily kill the opponents marksman or assassin.

HARLEY

Magic type heroes are best in the early game. Harley can easily burst marksman, mage, or assassin. As I said Harley is an early game hero, so I usually go mid lane and rotate as soon as I got my level 4 skill. My Harley game play has a similarity in assassin heroes, where I let my teammate clash and wait for the opponent skills used up before I enter the fight. I also ambush heroes that go alone. My 3 core items for Harley after I build arcane boots are Lightning Truncheon, for early game additional damage. According to the item the additional damage of the Lightning Truncheon depends on the maximum mana of your enemy. Second is Concentrated Energy, this item gives you 25% spell vamp and additional 700 HP that give you the extra durability. Third is Clock of Destiny to sustain your damage until late game as it stacks your magic power every 30 seconds. Those are my core items for Harley, after you build these three items the following items will depend on your game play and the team composition of your opponent.

FANNY

Fanny is the hardest hero to use. Her cable is complicated, but with the proper practice you can use her and become a trouble for your enemies. My build for Fanny is based only on top players in the in game live stream. I watched them and try their build and customized it based on my game style. My build for Fanny starts with a Hunter’s Knife and upgrade it to Beast Killer if you have more than one mage opponent or Raptor Machete for physical penetration. Then proceed to build Blade of Despair, with +170 physical damage. With BOD and blue buff, you can kill easily, then escape as soon as level 2. Second item is Warrior Boots, some players said that it is not useful which is wrong. Armor boots gives you extra armor plus 40 movement speed. In case Fanny used up her energy with Warrior Boots you can still move easily when chasing or running away from enemies. The third item is the most important, the Bloodlust axe, which gives you +10% cooldown reduction and +20% spell vamp. With Fannys cable plus her first skill will be triggered when passing an enemy, she can easily gain HP at the same time bursting them. These are my core items for Fanny just like before, the following build will always depend on your enemy.

GUSION

Gusion is a mage/assassin hero. He is my current best pick, I use Gusion since I was in Elite division. I always go in middle lane to rotate and secure objectives such as jungle monster, buff, crab and turtle. When I'm in the middle lane, my first build is Pillager Axe for jungling  and Rapid boots for movement speed for my rotation. When i acquired level 4 skill I can start rotating to top and bottom lane, with his ultimate skill, I can easily burst my opponent. Plus his passive help him to inflict more damage even tank heroes. Gusion's passive gives him extra damage in basic attack equivalent to the enemies lost HP, this passive triggers when he cast his skills 3 times. My core items for Gusion is Lightning Truncheon, for damage in early game, Concentrated Energy for spell vamp and additional HP and Fleeting time for cool down reduction for assist or killing an enemies. As the match become longer, we need more cool down reduction  to trigger his passive. Gusion is not that good for late game.

LANCELOT

For my top 1, I choose Lancelot. Unlike Gusion Lancelot is a physical assassin, this means every time you build attack items your basic attack also grows. Gusion's basic attack growth depends on his level, so if you cast all of your skill already and your opponent survive, you are in a bad situation. For Lancelot, he still have a chance to kill the enemy with his passive that decrease his opponents defense plus a consecutive hits. Just like Gusion I also mastered Lancelot, I also go middle lane when I'm using him. My first build for him is Pillager Axe and Rapid boots for rotation. My 3 core items for Lacncelot are Endless Battle for extra true damage after casting a skill, this suits for Lance since he is a skill type will low cool down skills. After Endless I build Blade of Despair to increase Endless Battle true damage so I can easily burst my enemies. And last, Berserker's Fury. This gives you 25% critical chance plus his passive, you can dish out huge amount of damage in an instance.

Those are my Top 5 heroes that can help you rank up. This doesn't means that heroes that are not in the list are not good, It still depends on the situation. Hopes that I help you with this list. At the end of the day, what ever hero you use, It still depends on the skills of the user.
